Excellent read。 Highly recommend。 Intriguing story line。 A little predictable but so good!

It took about 30 pages in to get a good grasp of the story and then I was hooked! Of course this has a heart wrenching ending, as all the KH books I have read do。 The relationships that develop between characters are just so amazing!

Well apparent I was up for a big cry。 The last 33 pages I cried my eyes out。 The main character is a 6 year old girl。 She comes out of the woods and changes so many lives。 It was heart breaking to read。

What an emotional story! Had me crying。 But it is not a Christian book。 One graphic sex scene that didn’t need to be in there。 A 39 year old female police chief who has been divorced twice。 But a wild wolf little girl shows up in their small town。 It’s all about taking care of the wolf girl。

I think I have waited 10 years to read this book。 It has been on my list forever。 Kristin Hannah's books never disappoint。 Where other books by other authors I might read and give 5 stars and then later change my review and go lower, I never do with Hannah! WOW WOW WOW! THis book just got to my heart。 If you read it, read the author's notes/discussion with her at the end on how she does the research (and the reference to Twilight location - really made sense after I read the book), and then the I think I have waited 10 years to read this book。 It has been on my list forever。 Kristin Hannah's books never disappoint。 Where other books by other authors I might read and give 5 stars and then later change my review and go lower, I never do with Hannah! THis book just got to my heart。 If you read it, read the author's notes/discussion with her at the end on how she does the research (and the reference to Twilight location - really made sense after I read the book), and then the study guide questions。 It just pulled it all together with the message of the book。My heart ached and laughed and hurt and smiled throughout the whole story。 Hannah has an astounding way of describing the setting and people in such detail that I felt that Jewlee (sp) was with me as my sister。 I could feel the pain Alice felt, and her fear。 I pictured myself in the bedroom with the tall plants and a the table they ate at, and the bathroom。 I could picture the town, the Christmas lights, the busy-body sisters who really cared。What a book about healing - for Alice needing a family, for Julie feeling she needed redemption, for Ellie wanted to feel true love, for Cal giving that love to Ellie, for Peanut bringing people together, for Max trying to help Julie love even when he lost his son。 WOW! I have no words and yet so many words。 。。。more

I’ve read many of Kristin’s novels and this one, along with Winter Garden, I initially underestimated。 I’m amazed at the character development and unique plot。 Wonderful book, had me in tears at the end!

I have a headache from all the eye rolling。 How is this the same author as The Nightingale? This read like a Hallmark Movie。 I kept thinking that this couldn't be as predictable as it was, but no, and also completely unbelievable。 Truth be told, 14 year old me would have probably loved it, but I loved a lot of questionable things back then。So, we have our disgraced psychologist, Julia, who comes back to her small town, where she never really fit in, to help her sister (a former homecoming queen I have a headache from all the eye rolling。 How is this the same author as The Nightingale? Meanwhile, there's another doctor in town who must be running from something because why else would he be there, who is drawn into the depth that is Julia。 And as if your gag reflex hasn't been triggered yet, people are giving each other so many looks that convey so much meaning, why even bother with dialogue at this point? This is NOT a psychological thriller, this is a trite, badly written, romance with an unbelievable side plot involved in the rehabilitation of a child。 。。。more

What can I say about this book except wow! This story is gripping from the start and the characters are very like able。 I found myself cheering for the little steps of Alice’s return to civilization with a heart-warmed smile。 One of the best I’ve read in awhile。

It was simple but overall enjoyable。 Perfect for my busy time at work because it was a good relaxing read。

Wow! Another Kristin Hannah winner! How far will a disgraced child psychologist go to help an abandoned wild "wolf girl " that was found? That's the challenge Julia faces when her police chief sister Ellie presents to her when she asks her to return to their town they grew up in。 Very well written heavy read with flawed characters that get their happy endings。 Loved it! I enjoyed this book。 However the most touching thing was the couple named Earl and Myra。 My grandparents were Earle and Myra, and I was reading this book on the first anniversary of my grandmas passing。 This book was bittersweet 🥲

The character development in this book is amazing。 Every character is flawed and "normal" in some way。 I enjoyed the mystery, the love, the overall human experience when it comes to career, self doubt, family drama, and lifelong friends。 The character development in this book is amazing。 Every character is flawed and "normal" in some way。 I enjoyed the mystery, the love, the overall human experience when it comes to career, self doubt, family drama, and lifelong friends。 。。。more

It was okay, kind of cheesy and a little outdated, but some parts definitely had me hooked

I have read books by this author before that I liked。 However, as a speech pathologist, I was disappointed at her lack of research concerning autism and severe communication disorders。 I also was disappointed in the writing。 I didn’t finish the book which is unusual for me。

Julie Tillman-Amador

All I can really think to say is…meh。 I’ve really enjoyed some of Kristin Hannah’s other work (The Great Alone, The Four Winds, The Nightingale), and I realize that this one was written earlier in her career。 But it was just mediocre at best。 Plus the narrator (I listened to the audio version) really put me off。 She just didn’t seem like the real voice of the main character。

I liked the story quite a bit。 However, a few of the characters were a bit over the top。 I would recommend it as a read。

The story of a disgraced psychiatrist and the wild girl who changed her life。 I was hooked from the beginning to to the end。

Kristin Hannah's MAGIC HOUR centers on Dr。 Julia Cates, a disgraced child psychiatrist whose reputation is tarnished after a patient's suicide。 She is at a standstill until her sister, Police Chief Ellie Barton, calls her back to their small town for help dealing with a feral child。 Julia's bond with the girl, who she names Alice, grows into a maternal connection。 I did enjoy this book quite a bit。 In the complexity of her characters, the direction she takes and her willingness to ponder morally Kristin Hannah's MAGIC HOUR centers on Dr。 Julia Cates, a disgraced child psychiatrist whose reputation is tarnished after a patient's suicide。 She is at a standstill until her sister, Police Chief Ellie Barton, calls her back to their small town for help dealing with a feral child。 Julia's bond with the girl, who she names Alice, grows into a maternal connection。 I did enjoy this book quite a bit。 In the complexity of her characters, the direction she takes and her willingness to ponder morally grey areas in her story, Kristin Hannah reminded me a lot of Jodi Picoult in this book。 I also appreciated that her characters are complex but fundamentally likable people who are easy to root for even in their imperfections。 I also enjoyed the information about feral children and their language development。The only thing preventing this from being a five-star read for me is Kristin Hannah's writing。 I think she is a wonderful storyteller but not such a great writer。 That being said, MAGIC HOUR is a great story that explores the many forms love can take。 If you like Kristin Hannah, don't miss this one! 。。。more
